May Newsletter

Alright y’all, I know we’re almost halfway into June and I’m just now doing May’s newsletter. But you can’t blame me, I’m lazy and forgot 🤷‍♂️.

Okay, so the month of May 2026. My last full “normal” month I have left.

I started it by going on a campout with the youth in my church, and we went caving. Honestly, it was so much fun. There were a few spots that were super, super tight, but somehow my lil frame fit 😝.

Watuaga Ward Dub Up

I also got addicted to longboarding with my friends. Like every afternoon when I was finished with jobs, I would just go off and longboard with my bros for a few hours. After not boarding forever, getting back into it has actually been so much fun.

Is this legal??? 🤷‍♂️

My boys and I found a chill spot for awesome flicks 🤫. Lmk if you want the addy to hit up this spot.

Church haircut. So this is kinda silly. My friend Luke hooked me up with a haircut right in the church parking lot during a dance 😭. It started as a joke, then I was like, “Yo bro, can you legit hook me up with a cut in the church parking lot?” So a few hours later, while a formal dance was going on, I got a trim in the back parking lot haha.

Thanks King

Miami experience. Okay, so my church paid for me to fly out to Miami to get my French consulate visa taken care of. I had to wake up at 2 in the morning, drive an hour to my 6-gate airport, hop on the plane, and a few hours later, I was in Miami. I went to the consulate, which took forever, did my interview and everything that needed to be done, then got back to the airport and flew home.

Adulting 🥱

It was pouring rain the entire time I was there 😭

While on a layover in Atlanta, Georgia, I met this super cool guy. We got to chat for hours, and I basically got to hear his whole life story. His name is Adarius, he’s 30, and about 3 years ago, he flew from Johnson City, Tennessee, which is near where I live, and moved out to San Francisco, California.

Over those 3 years, he became homeless, ran out of money, and also felt like his purpose was to come back home to the South. With less than $700 to his name, he got a plane ticket and was heading home.

I was chatting with him, and the topic of religion came up. I asked him if there was a church he had back home, and he said there wasn’t, so I invited him to mine. After I said that, he completely broke down and cried. I gave him a hug and realized that we were brothers now.

I shared with him our scriptures and some things we believe in our church. I also put him in touch with the missionaries at our church. Anything I can do to help this man out. This really was one of the biggest highlights of the month for me.

I’ll be honest with you, it is kind of freaking me out that I don’t have a single normal month left anymore. Soon I won’t be able to run jobs, see friends, listen to music, do a bunch of stupid stuff, and all that. Of course, in the long run, the mission is going to be the best decision and choice I’ve ever made in my life up to this point. It’s just going to be a lot to get used to.

I’m starting my missionary training on June 24th, so I really won’t be able to do anything other than missionary work after that day. Also, as a missionary, I’ll be writing weekly emails rather than monthly emails, and they’ll probably be much shorter.

Just a silly photo of a dog driving a car lol

I’ll see y’all whenever I write next ✌️

Love y’all,
Michael
