What Happens When Nothing Happens?

Real life. Real lessons. Real scrambled eggs gone wrong. -May's newsletter

Alright, so to be honest, nothing too crazy happened this month.
(I guess that’s what “normal” life is like 💀)

A Spiritual Experience

Literally right after I hit publish on last month’s newsletter, I went to a weekly church activity with my friends. That night we were knocking doors, asking people if they’d be willing to donate to the Good Samaritan food drive.

First house we hit? A Mexican family. The parents didn’t speak much English, so I busted out my broken Spanish. While they went to grab some food from inside, the kids in the yard passed me a soccer ball. Next thing I know, it’s me—some dude with zero soccer experience—trying to hold my own against three little pros. 😂

But honestly, that’s the feeling I always hope to leave: just being willing to show up, help out, stay humble, and not be afraid to jump in, even when you’re out of your element.

We hit a few more houses, and right as we were about to leave, I got a feeling—like we should knock on a couple more. I told my friends, “Jump out of the car—we’re hitting a few more houses.”

At the very last house, this older lady opened the door. She was more than happy to donate and went back into her house to gather food. When she came back with a huge bag of canned food, she sat on her porch and started talking to me. She said that earlier that day, while driving past the Good Samaritan food bank and seeing people lined up outside, she had said a prayer asking God to send someone her way who she could help. And there I was.

As she shared that with me, I could just tell how much it meant to her that I had shown up. I told her I believe that God works through people. That it wasn’t a coincidence I knocked on her door. And I still believe that, always look for those little moments when you can be the answer to someone’s prayer.

Going Out With the Missionaries

A few days later, I went out with the missionaries. (If you don’t know, I’m a Mormon. I believe in God, in Jesus Christ, in the Bible—and also the Book of Mormon.)

We visited this guy named Austin. His dad had passed away just a few weeks before, and I could tell he was going through a lot. But it felt good to be there, to help him, and to talk with the missionaries about how there’s a plan for all of us. It’s comforting to know that.

Such good guys. It was a ton of fun to hang out and teach with them

Then literally 20 minutes later, I met up with one of my best friends I hadn’t seen in over 7 months. We biked, talked, and caught up. It was just a good day, all around.

I Cooked King Ranch Chicken

There’s this meal called King Ranch Chicken that my grandma makes—and it’s so good. I made it this month and have been trying to get into cooking more. I’m slowly picking up new things here and there.
Also: turns out it’s possible to mess up scrambled eggs. 😬 Still learning.

Don’t worry, this was planned…

Business Update: TailorMadeTunes 🎵

I restarted TailorMadeTunes this month. I’ve cold-called over 100 businesses, wedding companies, event planners, all that. I’ve also DM’d over 150 people.

How many sales have I made?
Zero.

No joke. Not one.
Something’s clearly off… and it’s me. I suck at marketing, plain and simple.

So I’m hitting pause. Not forever—I’ve still got tons of ideas—but for now I’m focusing on learning. I’m reading “Million Dollar Weekend” by Noah Kagan. (If you’ve been around since last September, you might remember I mentioned him when I saw him on a Zoom call giving advice at an event.)

Reading his book won’t magically bring sales, but I’m hoping it’ll help me get clearer on what I need to change. And then we go again.

I like this

Music Update

I’ve been making a lot of music. Like, a ton. All using suno.com—which is free and honestly gives crazy good results.
I’m planning to drop an album. So far I’ve got 10 songs done, and I don’t know how many more I’ll make, but just be ready for the hardest album of 2025. 💿🔥

I’m thinking of calling the Album - Is This Real?

Gear Talk

Drone Life (and near Death)

I got a drone.
And then I crashed it. 😅

Some friends were in town and gave me one of their extra drones, which was super dope. But I got a little too confident, tried to fly it like an FPV drone (like Zane, my brother does), and straight up slammed it into the tractor. R.I.P.
Luckily it wasn’t too bad. But yeah… lesson learned. (I think)

I definitely got super lucky

Camera Time

I also picked up a camera and tried taking some photos. I know nothing about photography—like literally the only thing I know is which button takes the picture. 😅

Here’s the first photo I ever took. I call it “Hammuh.” lol.

I know it kinda sucks, but you gotta start somewhere

What’s Next

If TailorMadeTunes doesn’t work, I’ll let it go (for now) and move on. I’ve realized I just want to keep learning. Drones, photography, music, whatever’s next.

I also know I need to post more on social media and get more consistent. Time to lock in and get back at it.

Thanks for reading the newsletter—it’s still so cool to me that there’s this little group of people who genuinely care what I’m up to and what I have to say.

I’d love to hear from you, so if anything here hit you, made you laugh, or made you think—send a reply! I always read them. :)

See ya next time,
Peace ✌️
